Other ways to work together

Online sessions

Can’t make it to Abbotsford? Sessions are also available online, so you can talk from wherever you feel most comfortable.

Groups, workshops and workplaces

Paul runs group sessions and workshops, and works with organisations on Employee Assistance Programs and executive coaching. Email to discuss what you need.

Your first session

There’s no script to follow. The first session is about getting to know each other and understanding what’s brought you here.

You’ll find a warm, welcoming space where you can speak without judgement. Paul follows a confidential, professional process with every new client, and the session moves at the pace you need.

It’s also a chance to check the fit. Paul is honest from the very first conversation: if what you need is beyond his experience, he’ll say so and help you find someone better placed. And if you feel he isn’t right for you, he respects that too.

Respect, both ways

Counselling works best when it’s open and honest, so the studio is a safe space for everyone in it, including the counsellor.

Sexism, racism, abusive language or behaviour, and violence of any kind aren’t tolerated, and will end the counselling relationship. In return, you can expect the same respect and care for your wellbeing in every session.

Questions people often ask

Are the fees GST-inclusive?

No. Fees are listed excluding GST, and GST is added to each session fee.

Can I have sessions online?

Yes. Online sessions are held on Zoom, with a private, password-protected link, for clients located in Australia. The Telehealth Terms explain how they work.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule?

Please give at least 24 hours’ notice by phone or text on 0458 720 428, or by email to bookings@inachordcounselling.com.au. Cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice, and missed sessions, incur the full session fee. If something genuinely unavoidable comes up, let Paul know as soon as you can; he will always consider the circumstances. Read the full Cancellation Policy.

Is what I say kept confidential?

Yes. Paul follows a confidential, professional process and keeps careful, confidential case notes. He’ll talk you through how confidentiality works when you first meet, and the rare situations where information may need to be shared are set out in Confidentiality and Its Limits.

How many sessions will I need?

It depends on you and what you’re working through. Real, lasting change takes patience, but once it begins, it often moves faster than people expect. You and Paul will check in regularly about how the work is going.

Can a young person come on their own?

Youth sessions are for young people aged 12 to 17, with a parent. If you have questions about what that looks like for your family, call 0458 720 428 before booking.
